Result of Sprint #8

In Sprint #8 (incl. Mini Sprint) we have consolidated the trialox platform and improved its stability. A lot of minor bug fixes and refactoring made it easier to develop custom applications. Beside the consolidation trialox has developed a custom application for approving images for a mosaic.

Trialox made also some changes in the source control management. We have now five repositories: main, custom applications, examples, sandbox and archive. Have a look at http://scm.trialox.org

Test Suite

We evaluated the trialox platform last sprint. The results are pretty good. The setting for the first test was:

  • Server: Pentium IV 2.0 GHz, 500 MB RAM.
  • Duration: 3 days
  • Tests: “get 404 response” and “get binary content”
  • Threads: 300 Threads each test
  • Time out: 2ms.

Comment:
The test suite sent about 5.5 Mio requests to the server.

Test results

get 404 response:

  • Mean response time: 2.06E10 ns
  • Max response time: 45488967663 ns
  • Min response time: 3594660496 ns
  • Correlation between response time and duration of the test: 0.036

There is a significant correlation between the response time and duration of the test “get 404″ because of the huge amount of data (perfect correlation would be 1.0). But commonsense there is no correlation between these 2 criteria as shown in the following diagram.

get binary content:

  • Mean response time: 7.37E9 ns
  • Max response time: 28210454225 ns
  • Min response time: 17319335 ns
  • Correlation between response time and duration of test: 0.047

There is also a significant correlation between the response time and duration of the test “get binary content” but commonsense there is no correlation.

Trialox has developed a test suite (validation suite) for evaluating our platform. There are 4 test cases available right now:

  • get 404
  • get binary content
  • get rdf graph
  • put and get binary content

Test results will be presented after the sprint meeting. For now - we are satisfied.

Sprint #7

In the Sprint #7 we have decided to work on integration tests for the platform, on the support for creating HTML templates and on the graphical user interface.

The software developers are focusing on searching an easy way to create HTML templates. The Goal is that Screendesigners are able to create such templates. We have already published some information on our wiki:
Template Engines
Templating
Virtual Graph

Furthermore the GUI team develops HTML Prototypes for two defined task scenario in the context of content creation

Result of Sprint #6 (extended)

Because of Christmas and New Year we have decided to extend Sprint #6. The Goals of this Sprint were:

  • finish the work of last month (we have problems because of felix’ security framework)
  • work on the security mechanisms
  • develop wire frames for the graphical user interface
  • write documentation and tutorials about our products

Furthermore the team has also improved the system stability and performance.

In this sprint we had 2 task forces: One for the software development and one for the graphical user interface. The Developers have extended the security in the trialox platform such as authentication and authorization. Read more about security on our wiki:
JAAS in OSGi
ConditionPermissionAdmin

The GUI team has created wire frames, task scenarios and paper-based prototypes.
